Huge #FlipgridFresh Updates for the Classroom and Beyond!

Published December 16, 2021

This #FlipgridFresh update is our biggest yet. Starting today, we're launching a series of new features inspired by your great ideas and the bold new ways you’re using Flipgrid!

We’ve simplified how you create and share with a spiffy new group creation flow on mobile, group invite links, and new ways to record videos on the go, even outside of a group or topic. Take a look!

Easy Group Creation and Invites

Group creation is now easier than ever and can be done on both the web and mobile app. Now you can invite your community of learners to join through a simple link. If you’d like, you can still limit group access to specific emails, domains, Google Classroom rosters or usernames, but it is no longer required. Just create a group, set your permissions—allowing anyone to join or require people to ask to join— and share your invite link through email, text or messaging apps.

Tip: Group links can be shared in your LMS like Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, or Canvas, or with friends and family via email or text.

Activity Feed

After you’ve shared your invite link, your new activity feed will tell you when you have new students, requests to join, and even new topic responses. Group leads aren’t the only ones with this new feature. If you get added to a new group, you’ll see that notification in your feed, too.

Tip: Skip your inbox! Check your activity feed to see what’s happening in your group.

Mobile Videos

You asked and we listened! We’ve evolved the Shorts feature so you and your learners can create Flipgrid videos outside of a group on both the mobile and web app. Just record your video and then easily share or embed it anywhere online.

Profile Page and ‘My Videos’

Now anyone on Flipgrid – whether a group leader or student – can see all of their videos in one place, the new My Videos section of their profile page. When you record videos anywhere on Flipgrid, they’ll appear on your new profile page, where you can choose how you’d like to share them.

Tip: You can share videos you’re proud of outside of Flipgrid with the new, easy-to-use share link.

Discovery Link has Moved

Along with these new features and updates, we’ve consolidated links to all of the good stuff you use on Flipgrid. Now, when you click on your profile icon on the web, you’ll find the link to Discovery along with your activities, mixtapes, and achievements.
